Our Church History and Hope for Tomorrow

Here at Concord Highland Baptist, we are dedicated to sharing God’s love through worship, service, and community. Our mission is to nurture faith and inspire growth, guided by a vision to be a welcoming church that transforms lives in Jefferson County and beyond.

• Concord Highland Baptist’s first church service was on May 3, 1953 with Bro. W.C. Stone serving as the first pastor.
• On April 27, 2011 a nearly mile wide F5 tornado destroyed the original sanctuary, church buildings, pastorium, recreation center, church bus and many of the surrounding homes and businesses.
• The Church and the Concord community pulled together in faith and love to rebuild. On Easter Sunday, March 23, 2013, the first service was held in the new church sanctuary built across the street from the site of the previous church building.
• We are grateful to have a new sanctuary, but God’s Church is not a building. It’s a community of believers who gather together in worship, prayer, study and praise!
• Since 2022, Bro. Jeff Champion and his dedicated wife Jackie have been faithfully serving our church community.

Our Mission:
As an Alabama Southern Baptist church, we adhere to the Baptist Faith & Message 2000, which emphasizes biblical inerrancy, salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, and the autonomy of the local congregation. Our primary mission is fulfilling the Great Commission through localized evangelism, global missions, and cooperative giving.
